Building Blocks Preschool
Our story
Are you looking for a preschool experience for your child that is different from the usual “day-care” oriented or conventional institutional offerings? If so, Building Blocks Preschool might be for you.
Building Blocks offers an experience like none other currently available in Riverside, a personalized, nurturing setting that includes a small teacher-child ratio and revolves around the social, emotional and learning needs of your child.
When children “graduate” from Building Blocks, not only do they have a solid academic foundation that prepares them well for Kindergarten, they gain skills to thrive socially and emotionally in their new surroundings. In addition, the intimate setting at Building Blocks allows for children and parents alike to create life-long connections and friendships that carry through to school years and beyond.

Our History
Building Blocks has been hosting children since its inception in 1979, and remains one of the most well-established preschools in the Riverside area. Since then, countless graduates have brought their own children back to experience preschool like they did, in a setting that provides opportunities for play, learning, friendship, and creativity.
Housed in historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the preschool continues to provide families with the quintessential experience of growing up in Riverside: walking to nearby parks for recreation, visiting the Riverside Fire Department and Public Library, and taking train rides for adventures in other suburbs.

Accreditation and Safety
Building Blocks Preschool is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services as well inspections by the Illinois State Fire Marshall and the Riverside Fire Department. We do go beyond the standard licensing to ensure that our families and children receive the best care and education in a safe and secure environment.
Our Mission
We are a preschool which believes in the total development of a child at his or her own pace. We do this by providing opportunities for intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual development for children together with their parents.
